Prompt: Create a self-portrait by omission

The image depicted in this piece is intended to prompt a degree of confusion to the viewer. The story behind this image of myself was omitted in the piece. It's very unclear to the unclued-in individual the backstory of this piece. To give some context, this picture was taken after my wisdom teeth were “omitted”, and I was still under the effects of the drugs they used. I look vacant in the image, my eyes feel empty to an extent. That was one contributing factor on why I decided to recreate this image specifically. The somewhat unflattering image also subverts expectations for the typical self-portrait. When self-portraits are done, the artist chooses the version of themselves they want the world to see and depict what they want, and don’t depict what they don’t want to. By choosing this image where I wasn’t exactly in my right mind, I show the world a version of myself that's a little too authentic. There's an aspect of omission in the medium I chose to use as well. I landed on using dry erase markers on a whiteboard in order to physically include omission, and even an interactive element with the viewer. If whoever possesses the piece feels so inclined to wipe it away, they have the option.The piece is impermanent and delicate. I want the viewer to feel almost apprehensive while handling it, especially since people always have the urge to touch art. I'm omitting the longevity of this piece since it's been done in such an unconventional and undesirable medium for fine art.
